The Frog Pond...

In my last post I told you I was working on the "to dye for" sweater from the first "Stitch & Bitch"...Well, last night I had to frog the whole thing!!! I had 17 inches done on it. What happened, you may be asking yourself?!?! I FORGOT TO CHECK MY GAUGE!!! I am not used to knitting on needles smaller than an 11 and the needles I decided to use where a size 8. (For anyone who doesn't knit this my not sound like much but it is a HUGE difference.) I had re-worked the pattern with a gauge of 4 sts. per inch and my gauge swatch was right on. I cast on and knit the first few rows (garter stitch in the round) then switched to After the switch I didn't check the gauge...I just kept knitting. When I measured the length I was on track, when I measured the gauge I was knitting at 4 1/2 st. per inch which shrunk the sweater by 5 inches around. Boy did I learn a lesson!!! I frogged it and started over again last night. So far I have 3 inches done. Here I go again. :)
